‘Fast X’ Casts Oscar Winner Rita Moreno As Grandma Toretto

Who knew there was an Oscar winner in the Toretto family? Vin Diesel revealed on Instagram today that West Side Story‘s Rita Moreno has joined the Fast X cast, playing grandmother to Dom Toretto and Jordana Brewster’s Mia Toretto.

Vin Diesel said in a video alongside Moreno and co-star Michelle Rodriguez…

“It’s been my dream forever to work with Rita Moreno, and the fact that she’s here playing my grandmother makes my soul smile. I’m so blessed.”

Moreno replies, “You know what, I think I was getting…I think my old age was waiting for you to invite me. Isn’t that nice?”

Crazy enough, Moreno is the fourth Oscar winning actress in the movie along with Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, and Charlize Theron. Who says these movies aren’t art?? Also in the cast and with a combined zero Oscars (I believe, correct me if wrong.) are Jason Momoa, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Sung Kang, Jordana Brewster, and Nathalie Emmanuel.  Oh, and Cardi B. She’s in this, too.

Fast X hits theaters on May 19th 2023.
