With all of the talk of a multiverse lately I have to imagine that ALL horror movies take place in a universe without Eddie Murphy’s classic 1983 special Delirious. If it did exist, they would know NOT to move into a house with obvious indications of hauntings. If you haven’t seen it yourself, I don’t know what you’re doing with your life but I’m happy to correct, watch this now!
Spencer Squire’s upcoming haunted house flick stars Emma Roberts as a woman struggling with post-partum depression who moves into a country home with her husband and newborn baby. When touring the home with their real estate agent that are told of a murder/suicide that took place there, a flag that could NOT be more red. While the trailer below paints a picture of a very formulaic and standard haunted house film there is one thing that seems to set this film apart, the wonderful Michael Shannon.
Shannon’s prescience as the concerned, helpful (and possibly homicidal) neighbor brings immediate tension and confusion into the clips where he appears. He is one of the only actors I can think of that give the simultaneous impression of a person that is quiet but caring and one who is malicious.
