‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse’ Story Details And Sequel Title Revealed

Sony found something special with 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which wowed audiences and critics alike on its way to winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Well, Sony’s not letting this gem go to waste, and as producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller said at CinemaCon last night, things are getting “way way way bigger” in the Spider-Verse.

Not only did Lord and Miller show the first 15-minutes of sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, but they also revealed the title of its upcoming sequel, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

But before that, there’s Across the Spider-Verse, which continues the adventures of Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) and Gwen Stacy aka Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld). Joining the fight will be Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099, voiced by Oscar Isaac, and Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman voiced by Issa Rae. The story begins on Gwen’s home universe of Earth-65, and will feature 240 different characters rather than 40 like the original.  We’ll also get to visit 6 different universes rather than one, to really give it that multiverse feel.

Across the Spider-Verse was recently delayed to June 2nd 2023, which pushes Beyond the Spider-Verse to March 29th 2024.
