Robert Downey Jr. Sets Two ‘Sherlock Holmes’ Spinoff Shows At HBO Max

I know it seems like it’s not going to happen because it’s been so long, but Sherlock Holmes 3 is apparently still a thing. The last we heard, Robert Downey Jr. was trying to put together a cinematic universe set within those works of author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and it seems he has pulled it off with help from WarnerMedia and HBO Max.

Variety reports that two Sherlock Holmes spinoff shows are in the works for HBO Max. Each will focus on a new character introduced in Sherlock Holmes 3. Downey and his Team Downey label are on board as producers, working alongside Warner Bros. Television.

The original report had mentioned something about the first show centering on Holmes’ daughter, Irene Watson, and be set in 1920s Paris. The other about Black bounty hunter Bartholomew King and set in 1890s San Francisco.  But those details have been pulled so perhaps Variety was premature.

As for Sherlock Holmes 3, the last we heard Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman) was on board to direct, but that might have changed. The film has no release date right now, either, after suffering numerous setbacks.
