‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Writers Wanted More With Maguire And Garfield

Nostalgia is a wonderful thing, and Spider-Man: No Way Home gave us a heaping ton of it. The thing fans have been wishing for, that many thought would never happen, actually did happen. We got Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield’s versions of Peter Parker all in the same movie. It’s still crazy to think about. And what’s more, it wasn’t just a cameo. They were integral to the plot and, in my opinion, saw their respective stories wrapped up quite nicely.

And yet there could’ve been more. Writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers told Variety that they actually wanted to do more with Garfield and Maguire in a post-credits scene. Sadly, it never made the cut. However, the duo are eager to continue the stories of the two past heroes in a fun way…

“I would hope so!” McKenna said. “I would love to see more of their journey. We even talked about, ‘Oh, we could do a [post-credits] tag with this one! We could do a tag with that one!’”

Sommers added, “‘Can we do a TV show with the two of them traveling around in a van solving mysteries?’”

Hell yeah! I’d sign up for that! Of course, he was joking about the mystery-solving stuff, and it’s probably unlikely we see those two ever suit up as Spider-Man again. But never say never. Spider-Man: No Way Home has led to a surge of interest in the Maguire and Garfield franchises, and Marvel/Sony may look at that and see $$$.
