‘Expired’ Trailer: Ryan Kwanten And Hugo Weaving Star In A ‘Blade Runner’-Inspired Hitman Film

With its dystopian, neon-lit background in a world cominated by product placement, the new sci-fi thriller Expired clearly draws inspiration from Blade Runner. There are worse films to be influenced by, and we’ve seen a number of them in recent years. But Ivan Sen’s film looks to be one of the more intriguing ones out there, as it tells a hitman story and a tragic romance all rolled into one.

Starring True Blood‘s Ryan Kwanten, The Matrix legend Hugo Weaving, and Jillian Nguyen, Expired is set in a future Hong Kong and follows Jack, a hitman who has pulled himself away from humanity. However, he’s drawn to April, a nightclub singer who could be his one shot at redemption. The problem is that as he and April grow closer, his body mysteriously starts to deteriorate. Seeking aid, Jack tracks down Dr. Bergman who could be the key to unlocking secrets from his past.

Sen both wrote and directed the film, which previously went by the title Loveland.

Expired opens in select theaters and VOD on March 18th.
