‘Train To Busan’ Remake Lands ‘Killers’ And ‘Headshot’ Director Timo Tjahjanto

There’s every reason to hate the idea of a Train to Busan remake. Yeon Sang-ho directed the original zombie film to rave reviews, and it’s only five years old. Give it some time to breathe! Even the sequel, which opened just last year, is pretty good. But then you see that James Wan is on board as a producer, and he’s one of the best horror filmmakers around. Gary Dauberman, the writer behind It and Annabelle Comes Home, is on the script. And now comes word that behind the camera will be Timo Tjahjanto, director of awesome flicks such as Killers, Headshot, and The Night Comes for Us, and things don’t look so bad.

Deadline reports Tjahjanto will direct New Line’s remake of Train to Busan. He’s one of the great group of exciting Indonesian filmmakers making some of the best and most violent action flicks around. He certainly has the chops for the fast-paced gore that Train to Busan should offer.

For those who don’t know, Train to Busan follows passengers on a train as a zombie apocalypse breaks out and chaos ensues. The film was a huge international hit, sparking an animated prequel, titled Seoul Station, and a sequel titled Peninsula.
