And so it goes. Gina Carano is just another conservative pretending to be a badass but is really just a snowflake in disguise. Carano, who had it made in the shade with a role in The Mandalorian and her own spinoff series in the works, managed to screw it all up by punching down at people worse off than her over the course of months. Her most recent statements got her fired, and now she’s screaming about “cancel culture” while joining up with a far-right extremist news outlet.
Deadline reports Carano is joining with Ben Shapiro’s (uggghhh) The Daily Wire to develop and produce her own film. No details on it just yet, but unless it’s Haywire 2 then I’ll gladly pass, and this coming from somebody who has been a fan of hers since the very beginning.
The Daily Wire has been making moves into the movie biz of late, with films that appeal to their specific brand of gun-toting beta male audience. Their first completed project is their Die Hard-esque school shooting film Run Hide Fight.
In a statement, Carano whined about being canceled and says this new venture with The Daily Wire is her way of striking back against the “totalitarian mob” that shut her down.
“The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true,” said Carano. “I cried out and my prayer was answered. I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”
I really wish all of these “conservatives” (none of them are remotely conservative, but that’s another story) who complain about being fired from mega-corporation for saying hateful things would realize this is just pure straight-up capitalism. Disney wants to make money, the best way to do that is to appeal to everybody. Having someone on the payroll who spouts anti-Semitic rhetoric, attacks trans people, and spouts lies about stolen elections isn’t a sound business strategy.
