Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) shooting a rebel informant to ensure his getaway in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was the first big clue that we were in for something different. This was not going to be your standard good vs evil story. These were good men doing horrible things for the greater good. In the few short years since that movie was released it has become the favorite of all the Star Wars films among a large part of the fanbase, so it should come as no shock that a spin-off show was on it’s way and finally, thanks to this plethora of Disney news releases, we have our first look at the series.
While there’s no finished footage we do get a look at the set and some conceptual drawings, which all look awesome. Strange though was the fact that it does not look like they are utilizing “The Volume” used by The Mandalorian. If you aren’t familiar with what that is I highly suggest watching the Disney Gallery specials on Mando on Disney+, mind-blowing stuff. That’s not what’s important, what’s important is Diego Luna’s involvement. There’s something about him that’s magnetic, and his involvement as executive producer on the series means that he’s pot-committed to making the best damn show possible. We all know the propaganda side of the rebellions birth but to see the guys and gals with dirt and blood under their nails. The ones that REALLY get the job done, that’s what I’m excited about, everything is shades of gray. Add to that the spy-show angle and we have something totally different yet entirely un-missable.
