Disney+ is still lacking in new Marvel Cinematic Universe content, and with the live-action shows in flux because of the pandemic, they’ve decided to open up the Fury Files. Coming to the streamer on May 15th, the series opens up the top secret files of the ultimate spy, Nick Fury, for a look at the intel he’s got on all of Marvel’s superheroes and villains.
Fury Files will be presented in a mix of animation and motion comic art. Expect some of that animation to come from prior shows X-Men: The Animated Series, The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and others.
This isn’t exactly a new concept, as Fury Files originally aired in 1-3 minute segments years ago on Disney XD during their Marvel Animation block. At the time, Fury was voiced by actor Chi McBride. It’s unclear if that will stay the case, or if Samuel L. Jackson will take over. Marvel’s announcement presents this is a brand new show, so perhaps they will do things differently than before. You can watch an older episode below.
Also coming to Disney+ on May 22nd is the second season of Marvel’s Future Avengers. The Japanese anime series follows “Makoto, a young boy who developed superpowers from a Hydra genetic engineering experiment, and his friends Adi and Chloe as they train under Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as apprentices.” [Marvel.com]
