‘Desert Warrior’ Trailer: Anthony Mackie Stars In Saudi Arabian Action Epic Arriving Next Month

Rupert Wyatt’s Saudi Arabian epic, Desert Warrior, is finally arriving in theaters, four years after the film completed shooting. Vertical acquired the rights earlier this year, with a plan to release the Anthony Mackie-led historical drama on April 26th.

Mackie stars as a legendary warrior bandit in seventh-century Saudi Arabia, who comes to the rescue of the beautiful Princess Hind (Aiysha Hart) when she refuses to become the concubine of the ruthless Emperor Kisra (Ben Kingsley),

The new trailer features lots of swordplay, charging war elephants, and the rise of a warrior princess who must unite all of the desert tribes.

Also in the cast are Sharlto Copley, Ghassan Massoud, Sami Bouajila, Lamis Ammar, Géza Röhrig, and Numan Acar.

Desert Warrior completed shooting in 2022, then underwent a lengthy post-production that saw Wyatt temporarily depart over creative differences. Wyatt also co-wrote the screenplay with The Hunger Games’ Gary Ross, Erica Beeney, and David Self. This is Wyatt’s first feaure since directing 2019’s Captive State.
