Oscars 2026: ‘Sinners’ Breaks Record With 16 Nominations, ‘One Battle After Another’ Scores 13

If you watched today’s announcement of the nominees for the 2026 Academy Awards, and thought that Sinners was in every category, you weren’t far off. Ryan Coogler’s acclaimed vampire horror scored a record-breaking 16 Oscar nominations, surpassing the 14 earned by All About Eve, La La Land, and Titanic!

Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another was closely behind with 13 nominations, while Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein had 9 nominations, tied with Marty Supreme, while Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet had 8.

Wagner Moura became the first Brazilian actor ever nominated Best Actor for his incredible performance in The Secret Agent. This follows on from his becoming the first Brazilian actor to win the Golden Globe.

Wicked: For Good was completely shut out, earning zero Oscar nominations. Ouch. The Smashing Machine managed to snag one for Make-Up and Hairstyling.

While Joel Edgerton was shut out of the crowded Best Actor race, Train Dreams found its way into the Best Picture list, earning a total of 4 nominations. The same total goes for F1, which mounted a late season campaign to make its way into Best Picture, while star Brad Pitt was not among the Best Actor nominees.

The full list of Oscars nominees is below. The 98th Academy Awards ceremony will be on March 18th, airing on ABC and Hulu.
