‘Ink’ First Look: Danny Boyle’s Rupert Murdoch Biopic Stars Jack O’Connell, Guy Pearce, And Claire Foy

Now that 28 Years Later has helped reinvigorate that stalled franchise, Danny Boyle is turning to something totally different. This week he began shooting his next film, Ink, about the rise of Australian media mogul, NewsCorp founder, and Fox News creator Rupert Murdoch.

Our first look at Ink has arrived as the film prepares to go up for sale to distributors at AFM. The image shows Sinners and 28 Years Later actor Jack O’ Connell as Larry Lamb, the man Murdoch installed as editor of The Sun in 1969. The film is described as “an explosive cinematic rollercoaster” about Murdoch’s vision for a new kind of news that gives the public what they want, and in the process reshapes the media landscape. That means turning the struggles of The Sun around and engaging in a feud with rival British tabloid, The Mirror.

Guy Pearce stars as Murdoch, with Claire Foy as Jules Davies. The film is based on the Tony-nominated stageplay by James Graham.

Expect Ink to hit theaters next year.
