A biopic about the infamous “Hollywood Madam” Heidi Fleiss might be catch the attention of audiences fascinated by scandals. Recently, we learned that Aubrey Plaza was set to star in dark comedy The Heidi Fleiss Story, and now she’s getting a big-time co-star in rockstar/actress Alana Haim.
Deadline reports Haim, fresh off two big films in One Battle After Another and The Mastermind, is in talks to join Plaza in The Heidi Fleiss Story. Haim’s first major role was in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza, and she’s been busy acting ever since.
The film will center on the days leading up to Fleiss’ trial, after her prostitution empire came crashing down in 1993 when she was arrested, charged, and convicted on charges including pandering and tax evasion.
Haim will play Jacolyn, an ambitious writer eager to get the real story on Fleiss, but gets swept up in her chaotic attempts to get the charges dropped by using any leverage she can find.
There’s some impressive talent joining Plaza and Haim on The Heidi Fleiss Story. The dark comedy will be directed by Leah Rachel, creator of the Netflix series Chambers, in her feature debut. Rachel Sennott, of Bottoms and Shiva Baby fame, co-wrote the screenplay with Travis Jackson.
