Blumhouse’s ‘The Mummy’ Reboot To Star Jack Reynor And Laia Costa

While it would be nice to see a continuation of Brendan Fraser’s The Mummy franchise, what we’re getting is a total reboot from director Lee Cronin, New Line Cinema, Blumhouse, and James Wan’s Atomic Monster label. If it has to happen, this is a pretty good group to do it. And now we’re learning who will be starring in Cronin’s monster movie.

THR reports that Jack Reynor will star in The Mummy, joined by Leia Costa as a married couple, who along with their daughter, cross paths with the supernatural being.

Reynor can currently be seen in the hit Netflix series The Perfect Couple. He’s probably best known for his roles in Transformers: Age of Extinction, Midsommar, and Sing Street.

Costa has been among my favorite actresses since her breakout role in Victoria, a masterful thriller shot in a single take. The Spanish actress has also starred in Newness, Life Itself, and Only You.

This version of The Mummy is a far cry from the reboot starring Tom Cruise in 2017. That film was meant to be the start of Universal’s Dark Universe brand, along with Dracula: Untold. But when both films flopped Universal switched gears and brought in Wan, Blumhouse, and Cronin who proved his horror mettle with Evil Dead Rise.

The Mummy hits theaters on April 17th 2026.
