There’s a John Wick: Chapter 5 reportedly in the works, but the return of Keanu Reeves is still up in the air. However, fans of the Baba Yaga will want to check out the upcoming spinoff, Ballerina, because they’ll get to see Reeves back for a cameo alongside star Ana de Armas who plays the titular assassin.
Ballerina takes place between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3-Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4. Armas plays Eve Macarro, who trains to become an elite assassin to avenge the death of her father. The character was briefly seen in Chapter 3 delivering an elegant ballet of The Nutcracker.
On her journey, Eve gets a lot of help from some familiar faces including Anjelica Huston as The Director, Ian McShane as Winston, and the late Lance Reddick as Charon. Also in the cast are Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Norman Reedus.
The film is directed by Len Wiseman from a script by Shay Hatten. Franchise director Chad Stahelski is a producer.
SYNOPSIS: Taking place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the film follows Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas), who is beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.
Lionsgate releases Ballerina in theaters on June 6th.
