‘Sweat’: Ana De Armas To Play A Fitness Influencer In Remake Of Polish Drama

It was a mixed year for Ana de Armas, with the actress earning solid reviews and a modest box office for the John Wick spinoff, Ballerina, and not-so-good buzz for Ron Howard’s thriller, Eden. But the former Best Actress nominee has found her next project, Sweat, a remake of Magnus von Horn’s acclaimed 2020 Polish drama.

According to Deadline, de Armas is set to play fitness influencer Emma Kent, “who dreams of matching the success of her idol, social media superstar Kat Highbrook. Her carefully curated world begins to collapse when an encounter with Kat goes horribly wrong, and she is forced into a dangerous arrangement with Trent, an obsessive fan. His unhinged devotion pushes her to choose how far she’s willing to go for fame.”

This new take on Sweat will be directed by J Blakeson, the UK filmmaker whose impressive credits include the Netflix film I Care A Lot, cult horror The Disappearance of Alice Creed, and sci-fi thriller The 5th Wave.

Filming on Sweat begins in March.
