‘Elio’ Trailer: Pixar’s Latest Follows A Boy On A Cosmic Adventure After Being Abducted By Aliens

So how does Pixar plan to follow the record-breaking success of Inside Out 2, the highest-grossing animated movie ever? With what they hope will be another massive hit with the sci-fi adventure, Elio, which was announced a couple of years ago and is finally arriving in summer 2025. It feels like it’s been a really long wait for this one, but the full trailer is here in hopes that audiences will find it to be out of this world.

The story is actually pretty cool and should spark the imagination of kids who check it out. Elio is a boy obsessed with aliens who hopes to be abducted by them someday. He actually gets his wish, only for the extraterrestrials to confuse him for leader of our planet and in charge of communicating with all of these representatives from other galaxies.

Yonas Kibreab, Zoe Saldaña, Remy Edgerly, Brad Garrett, Jameela Jamil, and Shirley Henderson lead the voice cast. The film is directed by the trio of Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi, and Adrian Molina. Shi directed the critically acclaimed Turning Red back in 2022.  Sharafian and Molina worked on that film, too.

Elio opens in theaters on June 13th 2025.

SYNOPSIS: A space fanatic with an active imagination and a huge alien obsession, Elio’s all in for an epic undertaking when he’s beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide. When Elio is mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader, he must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions, and somehow discover who and where he is truly meant to be.
