Time travel is often used in the movies to fix something that went wrong in the past. Typically, these are events that change the entire course of history. But what if you’re just a kid with this extraordinary gift, and all you want is to find a way to keep your family together? That’s what one kid does in the upcoming magical family film, The Present, and Punch Drunk Critics is happy to share with you an exclusive clip.
The Present stars Isla Fisher and Greg Kinnear as parents to a brilliant boy who has discovered the means of manipulating time through a family heirloom. Teaming with his siblings, they scheme to go back in time to the eve of their parents’ separation in hopes of changing it, learning about the family bonds that can tie them together but also tear them apart.
In this clip, we see Fisher along with co-stars Ryan Guzman and Mason Shea Joyce. Joyce plays Max, who rudely interrupts his mom’s conversation with a handsome friend to interrogate her about his parents’ first date. And while she clearly holds strong feelings and remembers every detail about the moment she fell in love with her husband, Max is more concerned about what they had to snack on.
The Present is directed by Christian Ditter, and is available now.
