The summer is blockbuster season everywhere, and that includes at Netflix where they tend to roll out their biggest films of the year. Jamie Foxx can’t get enough of this time at the streamer, having previously starred in the summer flicks Project Power and Day Shift. And now he’s back with another, the pulpy mystery They Cloned Tyrone, which looks like colorful popcorn entertainment coming out at the right time.
Foxx stars alongside John Boyega and Teyonah Parris in the film about three friends; a pimp, street hustler, and sex worker, who uncover a vast government conspiracy in which citizens are being cloned. Boyega’s character, Fontaine, is one of them, having been killed by a rival, only to wake up unharmed. The trio joins forces to do the only they can do, which is take down the system!
The film is directed and co-written by Juel Taylor, and co-stars David Alan Grier, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Tamberla Perry, Eric Robinson Jr., and Kiefer Sutherland.
Foxx has a pretty good track record with Netflix in the summer, and this looks like it could be the best he’s done with them yet.
They Cloned Tyrone hits Netflix on July 21st. Check out the trailer below along with three character posters released yesterday.
