‘Star Wars: Visions Vol. 2’ Trailer: Acclaimed Animated Short Series Goes Global This May

Complain about the number of Star Wars projects Lucasfilm has unleashed of late, but they are also doing some truly interesting things that expand our understanding of that universe. One of the most acclaimed was season one of Star Wars: Visions, the short-form series that told small, dramatic tales in anime form. The series was a massive critical success, even winning an Emmy in the process. We know it would be coming back for a second volume, but now we’re getting a look at it in a new trailer.

What’s cool about this season is that Visions is truly going international, with animation from studios all around the world: El Guiri (Spain), Cartoon Saloon (Ireland), Punkrobot (Chile), Aardman (United Kingdom), Studio Mir (South Korea) Studio La Cachette (France), 88 Pictures (India), D’art Shtajio (Japan, in collab with Lucasfilm), and Triggerfish (South Africa).

Exec-producer James Waugh said excitedly: “The reaction to the first volume of “Star Wars: Visions” blew us away,” Waugh said in a press statement. We were delighted that this project inspired and resonated with so many people. We always saw “Star Wars: Visions” as a framework for celebratory expressions of the franchise from some of the best creators working today. Animation is in a global renaissance, and we’re constantly staggered by the amount of creativity pushing the medium forward.”

Look for Star Wars: Visions Vol. 2 to arrive on May 4th on Disney+.
