Keanu Reeves was on target with the debut of John Wick: Chapter 4, as the final (?) sequel in the hit franchise broke numerous records. The $73.5M debut is the best so far, the same for the $137M worldwide total. It’s the rare franchise film to earn its largest debut this deep in, and the biggest R-rated opening in the post-pandemic era. Reviews have been killer, with 95% of critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes loving it, and ‘A’ Cinemascore. Not even a nearly 3-hour runtime could hold the fans back! The John Wick universe rolls on with a Ballerina spinoff starring Ana de Armas and a TV series centered on The Continental, but as for the core movies this could be the last we see of Reeves in the role. What a way to go out, though!

Continuing to prove powerless against middling reviews and bad press over this Dwayne Johnson situation, Shazam! Fury of the Gods fell 68% in its second weekend. After two weeks the film has just $46M domestic and prospects of a sequel are dwindling.
