The rumors were true. The CCXP Expo in Brazil saw Marvel/Disney debut the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Now that writer/director James Gunn has made the leap to running DC Studios, this is likely to be his last Marvel film for quite a while. That’s fitting, because this film is the culmination of the story he began telling of this misfit bunch of a-holes, who are now bonded together as family.
The overall story for this one seems to be “going home”, which also seems appropriate. We’re going to learn more about Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and where he came from…and of course he’s packing a big gun for that journey. There’s also Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) who is still dealing with daddy issues plus a new revelation about Mantis (Pom Klementieff) recently confirmed in the GOTG Holiday Special.
We also get a look at Will Poulter as Adam Warlock, a very badly injured Drax (Dave Bautista, definitely done with Marvel), and Chukwudi Iwuji as the High Evolutionary. We also see the return of Zoe Saldana as the alternate version of Gamora, now working alongside the Ravagers.
There’s a lot going on here, but this is shaping up to be the most emotion film in the trilogy. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 opens May 5th 2023.
In Marvel Studios “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
