‘Road House’ Remake With Jake Gyllenhaal Is A Go At Amazon, Billy Magnussen And Daniela Melchior Join Cast

The bare-knuckle action classic Road House holds a special place in my heart, and in millions of others. It’s, I think, Patrick Swayze’s most memorable film (shut yer traps Dirty Dancing and Point Break fans!!) and probably has no business being remade. But back in November we learned that Jake Gyllenhaal was set to star in one directed by Doug Liman, and it’s tough to complain about that pairing. And now today Amazon has confirmed that film is indeed happening with a heck of a cast getting in on the bouncer action.

Joining Gyllenhaal in the newly greenlit Road House remake are No Time to Die‘s Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior of The Suicide Squad, plus Gbemisola Ikumelo (A League of Their Own), Lukas Gage (The White Lotus), Hannah Love Lanier (A Black Lady Sketch Show), Travis Van Winkle (You), B.K. Cannon (Why Women Kill), Arturo Castro (Broad City), Dominique Columbus (Ray Donovan), Beau Knapp (Seven Seconds), and Bob Menery.

The original 1989 film starred Swayze as Dalton, a philosopher/bouncer brought in to tame the rowdiest bar in town and fight off a sleazy businessman and his goons.

“I’m thrilled to put my own spin on the beloved ‘Road House’ legacy. And I can’t wait to show audiences what Jake and I are going to do with this iconic role,” said director Doug Liman.

Shooting on Road House begins later this month.
