I’m literally on the plane to San Diego for Comic-Con right now, and of course, I’ll be looking forward to the big Hall H panels from Warner Bros. and Marvel this weekend. While Marvel is expected to save a lot of their heavy-hitting stuff for D23, WB could go all-out. It’s expected that a heavy focus will be on Black Adam and Shazam: Fury of the Gods, but there could be one huge surprise: the return of Henry Cavill as Superman.
According to Deadline, buzz has picked up that Cavill will be there during WB’s Hall H presentation to announce something regarding his future as Superman. Will it be a new movie, a long-awaited sequel to Man of Steel? Or perhaps it’s to say that he’s finished in the role, and perhaps will get written off similar to Ben Affleck’s Batman? We just don’t know.
To be fair, this rumor pops up every year around this time, and so far it has never proven accurate. The only reason it feels a bit different right now is because of the source. Deadline doesn’t normally report idle speculation, so we’ll just have to see what develops.
Of course, I plan to be there in Hall H when the news drops. There should also be footage from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom with Jason Momoa likely to attend, and also The Flash although I’d be shocked if Ezra Miller is there.
