The very idea of the Multiverse is that worlds exist out there that are different based on differing choices that are made. While this concept is being played with right now both by Marvel and DC, films such as Sliding Doors and Everything Everywhere All At Once have been doing it as a means of exploring everyday life. In the new Netflix film Look Both Ways, Lili Reinhart plays a woman who comes to a fork in the road of life, and the impact of the choices she could make.
Reinhart plays Natalie, a woman who has a one-night stand with her best friend, only to learn that she’s pregnant from the encounter. Or…not. Depending on what happens, her life can go in many different directions. She could be a single woman living alone in Los Angeles, or pregnant and trying to figure out how to make a relationship last.
Also in the cast are Danny Ramirez, David Corenswet, Aisha Dee, Andrea Savage, Luke Wilson, and Nia Long. The film is directed by Kenyan filmmaker Wanuri Kahiu, known for her 2018 film Rafiki which made a splash at Cannes that year.
Look Both Ways hits Netflix on August 12th.
On the eve of her college graduation, Natalie’s [Lili Reinhart] life diverges into parallel realities: one in which she becomes pregnant and remains in her hometown, and another in which she does not and moves to Los Angeles. In both journeys, Natalie experiences life-changing love, pursues her dream career as an artist, and rediscovers herself.
