It’s only been a few weeks since Justin Lin made waves for exiting Fast X, leaving behind the franchise he is mostly associated with. But it hasn’t taken long for Lin to find something new, and possibly the start of another blockbuster series, as he’ll direct Sony’s adaptation of popular Japanese manga, One-Punch Man!
Deadline has the news of Lin directing the One-Punch Man movie, which has a script by Venom writers Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. One-Punch Man centers on Saitama, who has the ability to defeat any enemy with a single punch. Sounds boring, right? Well, that’s when he goes on a journey to find a truly worthy opponent, as he’s grown bored with his own omnipotence.
One-Punch Man began life as a webcomic by the artist ONE in 2009, and has since grown into a a multimedia powerhouse with a hit manga, anime series, video games, and more. A live-action movie is the last opponent One-Punch Man has yet to defeat.
