If you were hoping to binge all of those Marvel Netflix shows, now is the time to do it. Subscribers received a message that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist,The Punisher, and Defenders were leaving the streaming platform at month’s end. Where will they be available beginning on March 1st? Nobody knows just yet.
There’s a good chance the shows will turn up on Hulu or Disney+, possibly both. Then again, when you think of how The Punisher and Luke Cage were geared more towards adults they’ll likely end up on Hulu.
Each show was marketed as a “Netflix Original” but they were still Disney properties and thus were simply licensed out. Disney can pretty much do whatever they want with them. However, as we first reported back in 2018 when the shows began getting axed, none of the characters could appear in a non-Netflix series or movie for two after cancellation.
This, in part, explains why we’re only just now seeing characters like Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Charlie Cox’s Daredevil. Given that Marvel has used the same actors to play these characters in the MCU bodes well for the likelihood of seeing others return, such as Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and Jon Bernthal as Punisher. I’m not sold on Finn Jones ever coming back as Iron Fist, though. [Variety]
