Okay, so remember that post from a couple of hours ago about Taron Egerton being in Netflix’s Sandman series? Scratch that. After much mystery about the show’s cast, Netflix has made an official announcement and Egerton ain’t on the list. However, Tom Sturridge, rumored for a role since late last year, is right at the top.
Sturridge takes center stage in The Sandman, playing the god of dreams himself, Morpheus aka Dream. The rest of the cast includes Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Acheampong, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, and Sanjeev Bhaskar. Good to see a pair of Game of Thrones vets in Christie and Dance back in regular series roles. She will play Lucifer, ruler of Hell, while Dance is Roderick Burgess.
The Sandman is based on Neil Gaiman’s classic Vertigo comics series about Morpheus and others in the Endless. The Netflix series will follow Morpheus as he attempts to fix the cosmic and human mistakes he’s made in the past. Allan Heinberg and David S. Goyer are on board as producers, along with Gaiman himself. This will be the second series adaptation of Gaiman’s work, following the hit American Gods.
