Title, Poster, And Details Revealed For M. Night Shyamalan’s Upcoming Thriller

M. Night Shyamalan continues to be on a roll, both on the big screen with his one-two punch of Split and Glass, plus his renewed Apple TV+ series Servant. Now he’s back and has begun production on his latest film, which officially has a title: Old.

Shyamalan revealed the news himself in a tweet of the first set photo and artwork.

The cast he’s assembled is tremendous, probably enough to assuage those who have an aversion to Shyamalan thrillers. Gael Garcia Bernal, Eliza Scanlen, Thomasin McKenzie, Aaron Pierre, Alex Wolff, Vicky Krieps, Abbey Lee, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Ken Leung, Rufus Sewell, Embeth Davidtz and Emun Elliott all star in the film, which is inspired on the French graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Levy and artist Frederik Peeters. That story centers on a group of people who are unable to leave a mysterious beach that hides a dark secret involving time.

Collider adds that the story is described as an existential horror in the vein of The Twilight Zone and Lost. Shyamalan received the book as a gift and “loved the premise so much that he purchased the rights to the graphic novel, which served as a launching point for his script.”

Shyamalan will not only direct but adapt the screenplay, and will probably give himself a cameo because that’s just what he does. Universal plans to release Old on July 23rd 2021.
