Neve Campbell Officially Returning For ‘Scream’ Sequel

It wouldn’t be a Scream movie without the trio of Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell. And now, we won’t have to worry about that happening because Campbell is officially back as Sidney Prescott.

Scream 5 directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (aka Radio Silence) issued an excited statement about the addition of Campbell, who sorta sat on the sidelines for a while as the cast came together. Here’s what the directors had to say…

“We’re pinching ourselves! It’s hard to express how much the character Sidney Prescott shaped our love of movies and to have the chance to work with Neve is truly a dream come true. It just wouldn’t be a Scream movie without Neve and we’re so excited and honored to join her in Woodsboro.”

And now a statement from Campbell…

“After spending time speaking with Radio Silence, they have shown such love, respect and admiration for Wes Craven and all that he’s created in the Scream franchise. I am beyond excited to step back into the role of Sidney Prescott and return to Woodsboro.”

Scream 5 will be the first without legendary horror director Wes Craven, leaving some pretty big shoes for Radio Silence to fill. James Vanderbilt (Murder Mystery) and Guy Busick (Castle Rock) wrote the script. New additions to the franchise are Jenna Ortega (The Babysitter: Killer Queen), Jack Quaid (The Boys), and Melissa Barrera (In the Heights). Paramount plans to release the film in 2022.
