‘Lucky’ Trailer: Anya Taylor-Joy Goes On The Run After A Heist Gone Wrong In Apple’s Miniseries

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: a planned heist goes wrong, sending the perpetrators on a mad dash for survival from the law and the intended target. It’s been done, and you know what? We still love it and will not stop loving that simple premise. That said, there are still ways to keep it fresh, and Apple’s upcoming limited series Lucky is doing just that. Starring Anya Taylor-Joy, the summer showcase centers on a con artist on the run from the FBI and a dangerous mob boss when a job goes sideways.

Lucky is created by the red-hot Jonathan Tropper, the writer behind hit shows BansheeWarrior, and Your Friends & Neighbors. He’s also a frequent collaborator with director Shawn Levy, and wrote his upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter film. Cassie Pappas (TyrantSilo) is co-showrunner alongside Tropper.

Lucky began life when the book by Marissa Stapley became a Reese’s Book Club pick, same as Where the Crawdads Sing, Little Fires Everywhere, Daisy Jones & the Six, and the upcoming adaptation of The Nightingale. Reese Witherspoon has used her Happy Sunshine label, and deal with Apple, to back these projects, which come with rabid built-in audiences.

Taylor-Joy is joined by a stacked cast of Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Fichtner.

Lucky hits Apple TV on July 15th with a two-episode premiere, with new episodes weekly until August 19th.
