‘Wild Horse Nine’: November Release For Martin McDonagh’s New Film With John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell & Steven Buscemi

Martin McDonagh’s previous two films, 2022’s The Banshees of Inisherin and 2017’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, combined for sixteen Oscar nominations. So it’s no surprise that Searchlight Pictures has dated his next film, Wild Horse Nine, for November 6th, right in the thick of awards season.

There hasn’t been a ton of news on the upcoming thriller, which stars John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell, Steve Buscemi, Mariana di Girolamo, Ailín Salas, Tom Waits, and Parker Posey. Buscemi stepped in to replace Mark Ruffalo, who exited due to scheduling conflicts. For Rockwell, this is his second time working with McDonagh after Three Billboards and Seven Psychopaths.

Don’t be surprised if Wild Horse Nine pops up at a major fall film festival, likely Venice.

Written and directed by McDonagh, Wild Horse Nine takes place in 1973 Chile, and centers on two CIA agents who face a trust-testing journey from Santiago to Easter Island following the agency’s coup to overthrow the Chilean government.
