‘Jurassic World Liberation’ Rumored Title For Gareth Edwards’ Dino-Sequel

Released last year, Jurassic World Rebirth proved that audiences aren’t sick of dinosaurs just yet. The film, led by Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali, made $869M worldwide and earned an Oscar nomination for visual effects. Now, we’re learning that the franchise’s eighth movie could be on the fast track and may even have an official title: Jurassic World Liberation.

This is just a rumor, mind you, but it would make sense. Multiple ‘Liberation’ domain names have been acquired in recent days.

Director Gareth Evans is expected to return for the sequel, which marks the fifth movie in the ‘World’ series. June 9th 2028 is the expected release date, but a lot of that depends on Johansson’s busy schedule. She has two movies coming up back-to-back, Mike Flanagan’s The Exorcist: Martyrs, and The Batman: Part II, meaning shooting might not be able to begin until 2027.

I quite liked Jurassic World Rebirth, even as most critics panned it. Sure, David Koepp’s screenplay was a bunch of ideas taken from previous movies, but it was fast paced and exciting, a popcorn movie built for the summer. It’s silly to go in expecting this thirty-year-old franchise to be as fresh as it once was. I just expect to be entertained, and that’s enough for me.
