Released to streaming during the worst of the pandemic, Rod Lurie’s incredible military thriller The Outpost was one of the best movies of 2020, which is why I included it in my list. That film featured Scott Eastwood in a role he was absolutely born to play, commanding a true story that paid proper tribute to our real-life heroes of the battlefield. And now Lurie and Eastwood are reunited for Lucky Strike, another combat drama inspired by true events.
Roadside Attractions and Saban Films have released the first trailer for Lucky Strike, which also stars Colin Hanks, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Taylor John Smith.
Lurie’s latest tackles WWII and the story of a soldier trapped behind enemy lines during the Battle of the Bulge, with a single piece of new, untested technology at his disposal.
SYNOPSIS: Inspired by true events, Lucky Strike tells the story of one soldier trapped behind enemy lines during the last major German offensive during WWII, what will become known as The Battle of the Bulge. Armed only with his Motorola SCR-300 radio, a new technology only battle-ready near the end of the war, he must use his wits and spy craft to thwart the advancing Nazi Panzer army and find his way back home.
I’m very excited for this one, and hopefully I can get a few minutes with Lurie and Eastwood to talk about it. Lucky Strike hits theaters on June 26th.
