‘Supergirl’ Trailer: Truth. Justice. Whatever. DC’s Woman Of Tomorrow Is Here

After days of teasers and first-look images, DC Studios has unveiled the first trailer for Supergirl, starring House of the Dragon‘s Milly Alcock as the punk rock Kryptonian. The character was introduced at the tail end of last summer’s hit, Superman, and based on her first appearance, and this footage, she’s still partying hard across the universe alongside her loyal super-dog, Krypto.

But there’s a bit more to be seen in this trailer. Kara Zor-El is 23-years-old, and is still dealing with the trauma of losing her entire planet, her family, everything. The film is based on the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic by Tom King, and finds her joining with Ruthye Marye Knoll, a young girl on a quest for revenge after witnessing a tragedy.

Matthias Schoenaerts plays the villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills, and if you’re wondering why Kara looks sad over an ailing Krypto, well, it’s because of him. Readers of the comic know what’s up and I won’t spoil it.

The film is directed by Craig Gillespie (Cruella) from a script by Ana Nogueira, who is also writing DC’s Wonder Woman movie.  Eve Ridley plays Ruthye Marye Knoll, with David Krumholtz as Kara’s father Zor-El, Emily Beecham as her mother, Alura In-Ze, and Jason Momoa as Lobo.

Supergirl looks like a blast. I love the attitude, the punk rock vibe, and Alcock more than looks the part. This is an important film for the future of the DCU, especially with the winds shifting over at Warner Bros. right now.

Supergirl hits theaters on June 26th 2026.
