’28 Years Later 3′ Moves Forward With Cillian Murphy In Talks To Star

No shock here. The plan was always for 28 Years Later to be a trilogy, and now, after early test screenings of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple a couple of days ago in NY and LA earned rave reviews, Sony Pictures has made a third film official. And this time, it’s expected to star Cillian Murphy.

Deadline reports Cillian Murphy is in talks to star in 28 Years Later III, returning as Jim. He reprises the role in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, albeit in a cameo.

No other casting has been announced. It’s possible that characters played by Alfie Williams, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson could survive long enough to be part of it, as well.

Danny Boyle has said in interviews that he wants to direct the third movie. He came back to direct 28 Years Later, but handed The Bone Temple over to Nia DaCosta. Alex Garland is writing the screenplay as he has for each chapter.
