Leonardo DiCaprio Confirms He Won’t Appear In ‘The Adventures Of Cliff Booth’

The world created by Quentin Tarantino in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood may have centered around movie star Rick Dalton, but it shall continue on without him. In a new interview with Deadline, Leonardo DiCaprio confirmed he won’t be joining Brad Pitt in David Fincher’s The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a spinoff that focuses on Dalton’s stunt double pal.

“There were some talks about it early on. Ultimately, I cannot wait to see the Cliff Booth story, but I’m not in it,” DiCaprio said. “I think David Fincher’s the perfect man for the job. Quentin is a huge fan of his work, I’m a huge fan of his work, and there’s nobody better to carry on that lineage and tell that story. I think it’s the next phase of Cliff Booth’s life. I’m excited to see it.”

I feel like this has been the speculation from the beginning. While some reports suggested DiCaprio could make an appearance, it never seemed likely.

It’s hard to believe that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was six years ago. Ever since, Tarantino has talked about doing a Bounty Law series, based on Dalton’s western TV show within the movie. That series has never materialized and likely won’t, given DiCaprio’s hefty asking price. So who knows if we’ve seen the last of Dalton.

As for The Adventures of Cliff Booth, it has a script by Tarantino, and will surround Pitt with a cast that includes Timothy Olyphant, Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, and JB Tadena. The film is expected to hit Netflix in 2026.
