Ryan Coogler Confirms ‘Black Panther 3’ Is Next Up For Him

Given the accolades already heaped on Ryan Coogler, that he’s earning some of the highest praise of his career for Sinners really says something. And while it remains unclear how that film will perform this awards season, Coogler is ready to return to the MCU and continue the blockbuster Black Panther franchise.

Speaking as part of the Deadline Contenders panel over the weekend, Coogler confirmed that Black Panther 3 is the next major project for him…

“I would say…we’re working on it hard…Yes, it’s the next movie.”

Coogler has been busy with his X-Files revival series, and there had been speculation it could delay production on a Black Panther sequel. Doesn’t seem like that will be the case.

The two previous Black Panther films have combined for nearly $2.4B and five Academy Awards. Last we saw, Shuri had taken over as the new champion of Wakanda following her brother’s death. The Wakanda Forever post-credits scene saw the introduction of T’Challa’s secret son, who most certainly will be a factor in the next movie. Denzel Washington has also confirmed he has a role in the film.

Coogler has continued to make an impact on the MCU with the spinoff Disney+ series, Ironheart, and the animated anthology miniseries, Eyes of Wakanda.
