‘Violent Ends’ Trailer: Billy Magnussen Is A Good Man Dragged Into A Life Of Crime

We’re so used to Billy Magnussen in comedic supporting roles (and the occasional villainous one, as in No Time to Die) that we overlook that he’s long overdue for his shot as a leading man. He finally gets that chance in the crime drama, Violent Ends, playing a good man dragged into a world he’s long fought to escape.

Written and directed by John-Michael Powell, Violent Ends stars Magnussen as a peaceful man raised in a family of criminals, only to be pulled into that world when his cousin commits an armed robbery.

Magnussen is joined by an impressive cast that includes James Badge Dale, Kate Burton, Ray McKinnon, Nick Stahl, and Alexandra Shipp. This is Magnussen’s third movie of the year, along with Lilo & Stitch and A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, so he’s keeping plenty busy.

SYNOPSIS: Set in the Ozark Mountains, Lucas Frost is an honest man brought up in a crime family whose only legacy is violence. As Lucas tries to make a peaceful life of his own with his fiancée, Emma, he is suddenly pulled back into the family business when his cousin, Eli, perpetrates an armed robbery with brutal consequences.

IFC will release Violent Ends in theaters on October 31st.
