Pedro Pascal Replaces Oscar Isaac In Tony Gilroy’s ‘Behemoth!’

Forget superhero fatigue. Anybody else got Pedro Pascal fatigue? The actor starred in five movies in 2024, and already has three in 2025: The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Eddington, and Materialists. And now Pascal’s joining another high-profile film, writer/director Tony Gilroy’s Behemoth!, replacing another actor who was forced to drop out.

Unfortunately, the actor who had to exit Behemoth! was Oscar Isaac, due to scheduling conflicts. The news of his departure broke last week, and now Deadline reports Pascal is stepping in to replace him. The film has just found a home at Searchlight Pictures, too, so it’s good news all around for Gilroy’s first project since his acclaimed two seasons on Andor. There’s no hotter actor right now than Pascal, although personally I’d rather see Isaac, who is less ubiquitous.

Plot details remain a bit mysterious, but we do know the story centers on a child prodigy cellist who returns to Hollywood to make music for movies. This comeback triggers a rush of music-driven memories about his traumatic past.

Behemoth! will be Gilroy’s first behind the camera since 2012’s The Bourne Legacy. He’s also directed Michael Clayton and Duplicity, so it’s rare that he directs anything on the big screen.

Coming up next for Pascal because he’s always got something, is a return as Mando for The Mandalorian and Grogu, followed by Marvel’s The Avengers: Doomsday, where he’ll suit up once again as Reed Richards.
