Dave Bautista, the best wrestler-turned-actor ever, is set to add two more huge Amazon MGM projects to his already impressive resume. After we first learned about it in June, Bautista is now finalizing a deal to battle Jake Gyllenhaal in Road House 2. Not only that, but he’s also in talks to clash swords with Henry Cavill in Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot.
Deadline reports Bautista is set to join Cavill, Russell Crowe, and Marisa Abela in Highlander, a reboot of the fantasy epic franchise that launched in 1986. The story follows a race of immortal warriors who battle it out until only one of them remains. Bautista will play the villainous Kurgan, an Immortal who killed many of his own kind in order to claim “The Prize”, the power of all immortals that ever lived. The character was made famous by Clancy Brown in the original movie.
Meanwhile, Bautista is also ready to go on Road House 2, joining Gyllenhaal in the brawler sequel about an ex-MMA fighter turned barroom bouncer. Guy Ritchie had been attached to direct, but he dropped out and was replaced by studio favorite, Heads of State director Ilya Naishuller. The previous Road House was a huge hit on Prime Video, and the sequel should do just as well.
