Len Wiseman has been part of some of the biggest action franchises ever. His directorial debut was kicking off the Underworld franchise in 2003, and he directed Bruce Willis in Live Free or Die Hard in 2007, followed by Colin Farrell in the Total Recall remake in 2012. He’s got a ton of blockbuster experience in this arena, but he took on a new challenge by joining the John Wick universe and the new film, Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas.
Ballerina stars Ana de Armas as Eve, an orphan and trained Ruska Roma assassin who sets out to get revenge on man who murdered her father. Along the way, she fights through legions of enemies just as skilled as her, until she encounters someone who is unstoppable, the legendary Baba Yaga himself, John Wick.
For Wiseman, taking on Ballerina was a special experience from beginning to end. I had the chance to spend a few minutes talking with Wiseman, and he said it was really important to him that Ballerina not just be another John Wick movie, but unique to Eve and to Ana de Armas.
From the World of John Wick: Ballerina opens in theaters on June 6th.
