Sometimes, it’s good to be bad. Dreamworks Animation found itself with an unexpected hit with The Bad Guys. At a time when it’s harder than ever to launch new animated franchises successfully, the story of a group of animal villains earned $250M and demanded a sequel, one in which, naturally, they are now the good guys being dragged back into a life of crime.
Pierre Perifel returns to direct The Bad Guys 2 with the help of co-director JP Sans, and they’re joined by returning voice cast Sam Rockwell as Mr. Wolf, Marc Maron Mr. Snake, Craig Robinson as Mr. Shark, Anthony Ramos as Mr. Piranha, and Awkwafina as Ms. Tarantula nicknamed “Webs.” Also coming back are Zazie Beetz as Diane Foxington aka The Crimson Paw, Richard Ayoade as Professor Marmalade, Lily Singh as reporter Tiffany Fluffit, and Alex Borstein as Police Chief Misty Luggins.
The returning cast is joined by three new additions. Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks voices Kitty Kat, leader of the Bad Girls, Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova as Pigtail, and Natasha Lyonne as Doom.
In the first movie, the talking anthropomorphic animal villains attempted to do good and change the way the world perceived them. The sequel finds them fully reformed but dragged back into criminality by an even worse group.
SYNOPSIS: In the new action-packed chapter from DreamWorks Animation’s acclaimed comedy smash about a crackerjack crew of animal outlaws, our now-reformed Bad Guys are trying (very, very hard) to be good, but instead find themselves hijacked into a high-stakes, globe-trotting heist, masterminded by a new team of criminals they never saw coming: The Bad Girls.
The Bad Guys 2 hits theaters on August 1st 2025 from Universal Pictures.
