Well, that didn’t take long. Just days ago, we learned Alex Garland was set to write and direct an adaptation of Bandai’s action-RPG game, Elden Ring. So much for retiring, right? Anyway, there could be a reunion in the works as Deadline reports Garland is aiming to cast his Warfare actor Kit Connor for a role in the A24 film.
Nothing is confirmed yet, and it seems there’s still a lot of negotiating that needs to be done. But assuming a deal is ironed out, Connor would be joining a hotly anticipated film based on one of the most popular video game franchises. It would likely end up as A24’s most expensive movie ever.
Elden Ring is a fantasy action-RPG directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki (Dark Souls) and co-directed by Yui Tanimura, with storytelling and worldbuilding elements provided by Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin. And if you ever play the game, it certainly feels like you’re traversing Westeros.
Connor was one of the breakout stars of Netflix’s hit series Heartstopper. He’s had small roles in some pretty big films including Ready Player One, Rocketman, and he voiced Brightbill in The Wild Robot. He played Tommy in Garland and Ray Mendoza’s military thriller Warfare earlier this year.
