Here’s an unexpected bit of casting for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Joining Tom Holland and Sadie Sink in the cast is Liza Colón-Zayas, one of the many breakout stars of FX’s The Bear.
Deadline has the news of Colón-Zayas joining Spider-Man: Brand New Day, joining her The Bear co-star Ebon Moss-Bachrach in the MCU as he plays Ben Grimm in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. How long before Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edibiri sign up for some superhero action, too?
So what’s Colón-Zayas’ role? That much is unclear, as the film largely remains a mystery. It’s expected that Zendaya and Jacob Batalon will return as MJ and Ned, but they have not officially signed on yet.
Colón-Zayas recently had a role in IF opposite another MCU star, Ryan Reynolds. She also starred in the ensemble dramedy Allswell in New York which opened last fall. And of course, she’ll return as Tina Marrero for season four of The Bear when it returns to FX.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from an Erik Summers and Chris McKenna screenplay. The film hits theaters on July 31st 2026, arriving between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
