‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Trailer: John Cena Faces Green Lantern, Hawkgirl And More Of The DCU This Summer

John Cena is on top of the world again. Not only is he the WWE World Champion for the 17th time, the winningest champion ever, but he’s also got the second season of his popular series Peacemaker coming up this summer. Following the creation of DC Studios and the erasure of the Snyderverse, most of what came before was left to be rebooted. But not James Gunn’s series featuring Cena’s violent, egotistical antihero. That show is coming back for another round, and based on this new trailer, the more things change the more they stay the same.

As seen in the trailer for Peacemaker season two, Peacemaker is interviewing for a job with the new superteam being put together by Maxwell Lord, played by Sean Gunn. Also seen in the footage are Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner. None of them are impressed by him and his supposed skills.

We also see Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., and he’s clearly seeking some form of revenge against Peacemaker for killing his son in 2021’s The Suicide Squad.  I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Joel Kinnaman pop up as Rick Flag Jr. in flashbacks, but that hasn’t been confirmed.

Also, Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) suffers from toxic masculinity. Makes sense.

The irreverent sense of humor remains intact, that’s for sure.

Also coming back are Danielle Brooks as Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Steve Agee as Economos, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith, Nhut Le as Judomaster, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.

Other new additions to the show include Tim Meadows as ARGUS agent Langston Fleury, Sol Rodriguez as Sasha Bordeaux, and David Denman in a mystery role.

SYNOPSIS: The new season follows Christopher “Chris” Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante Super Hero as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost.

Gunn, who has been busy directing Superman, did find time to direct three episodes, with Greg Mottola (Superbad), Peter Sollett (Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist), and Alethea Jones (Mrs. Davis) picking up the rest.

Peacemaker season two hits MAX on August 21st.
