Final ‘Thunderbolts*’ Trailer Unites Marvel’s Newest Team Of Antiheroes

While Captain America: Brave New World‘s $400M global haul wasn’t all that was hoped for, Marvel Studios is hoping Thunderbolts* is their next big thing. The film teams together a bunch of MCU misfits, including Florence Pugh’s popular Black Widow, Yelena Belova, and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes who last we saw was running for Congress. Looks like his plans have changed.

Also in the cast are David Harbour as Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Wyatt Russell as USAgent, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the scheming Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Geraldine Viswanathan, Wendell Pierce, Rachel Weisz, Laurence Fishburne, and Chris Bauer are also in the cast.

The film is directed by Jake Schreier, whose sci-fi comedy Robot & Frank is a real treat and you should try to find it.

SYNOPSIS: In “Thunderbolts*,” Marvel Studios assembles an unconventional team of antiheroes—Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster and John Walker. After finding themselves ensnared in a death trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, these disillusioned castoffs must embark on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts. Will this dysfunctional group tear themselves apart or find redemption and unite as something much more before it’s too late?

The latest and apparently final trailer continues to try and paint them as an Earthbound version of the Guardians of the Galaxy, with all of the irreverent humor and team bickering. That’s probably not a bad approach to take.

Thunderbolts* hits theaters on May 2nd.
