Universal Pictures and Blumhouse had a Hell of a CinemaCon, showing off two of their biggest horrors for 2025. First was the trailer for M3GAN 2.0, and they also revealed the first official teaser for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, the sequel to the 2023 video game adaptation that scored a massive $297M worldwide. And that was with a simultaneous release on Peacock. Well, that won’t be an issue this time around.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will be exclusively in theaters this December, no Peacock day-and-date release. The film finds Josh Hutcherson returning as Mike Schmidt, who in the first movie was a loser night security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, just hoping it’ll help him retain custody of his little sister. The decision to work the graveyard shift comes to haunt him when the animatronic mascots spring to life and start killing folks. This is what happens when customers complain about the food.
Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, and Matthew Lillard are all coming back as co-stars, joined by new additions Wayne Knight, Mckenna Grace, and Skeet Ulrich.
Also coming back for more are director Emma Tammi and writer Scott Cawthon, creator of the Five Nights at Freddy’s multimedia empire. Cawthon is also a producer along with Blumhouse’s Jason Blum.
