‘Ready Or Not’ Sequel Is Finally Happening

Released in 2019, Ready or Not is seen as a cult favorite, and proof that Samara Weaving kicks ass and that the directors Radio Silence had bright futures. That, and the movie did pretty well at the box office, too. Why has it taken so long for a sequel? Who knows? But the wait is finally over.

Recently at a Ready or Not fan screening, Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella) revealed that a sequel is on the way after years of it being teased. Weaving is expected to return, but there’s no info on filming or a release date.

That said, Weaving has been gung-ho to come back if asked to do so, telling Comicbook.com, “I’m all in. I think we’re all in, I don’t know. I think we’re all in…I don’t know if we’ve had our blood handshake, but pretty much. We’ve done the spit handshake, but we haven’t cut each other’s hands and rubbed our blood together.”

Guy Busick and Ryan Murphy, writers of the original film, will return to pen the sequel. Ready or Not starred Weaving as a new bride who goes to meet her husband’s rich family for the first time, only to discover they have a tradition of playing a deadly game for survival. The film made $57M on a budget of just $6M.

Weaving has been busy on such films as Snake Eyes, Guns Akimbo, Bill & Ted 3, and most recently, Azrael. Radio Silence directed two Scream movies and the vampire horror-comedy Abigail. [Deadline]
